Ingredients
- Grapes
- Chocolate chips
- Almond slices
- Choice of nut butter (or cream cheese)
- Sour straws candy
- A pear
- Strawberries
- Celery
- A peach
- Apples
Materials
- Toothpicks
- Thin wooden skewers
- Potato Peeler
- Knife
- Chopping Board
- And Serving Plates
The Fruit Hedgehog
- Start by slicing off the side of the pear to make a base for the hedgehog body.
- Use your peeler to shave the tip of the pear to make a head.
- Cut off the pear stem to form the snout.
- Now we will make his quills. Stick a toothpick into a grape and spear it into the pear. Continue with multiple grapes and toothpicks until his body is covered in quills.
- Now spear a purple grape onto a toothpick and add it to the nose.
- For his eyes, insert two chocolate chips into the face of the hedgehog.
The Fruit Caterpillar
- Spear several purple grapes onto your long skewer.
- Then, at the end of one side, add one green grape.
- Take two thin threads of your sour candy and insert them into the green grape. These will be his little antennae!
- Use your knife to carve two small holes into the face. Insert the chocolate chips and tada! Your bug has eyes!
The Fruit Mice
- Cut out the green stems from a handful of strawberries. After the stems are removed, make a small slice in the side for the base of the body.
- Take threads of the sour candy and insert one into the end of the strawberry for the tail.
- Make two slits on the top of the strawberry. Then add the almond slices to make the mouse ears.
- Finish them off by adding two chocolate chips for the eyes and one chocolate chip for the nose!
The Fruit Turtle
- Take one apple and slice it in half.
- Next, take four toothpicks and stick them into the side of the apple to make legs.
- Add two more toothpicks – one for his head and one for his tail.
- Spear one whole grape onto the toothpick for his head, and another for his tail.
- Cut two grapes in half and spear each half on the leg toothpicks.
- Make two small slits in the head grape and add two chocolate chips.
The Fruit Bug
- Cut pieces of celery into various lengths.
- Use your knife to cut the bottom side of the celery so it lays flat (save this extra bit!).
- Fill the center of the celery with nut butter.
- Add grapes to the nut butter.
- Using the same slice of celery, make thin slices for the antennae. Insert them into the grapes.
- Take an apple and cut it into thin slices. Stick the apple slices into the nut butter to make little bug wings!
The Fruit Snail
- Take another slice of celery and cut the bottom so it lays flat.
- Spread nut butter on the inside of the celery.
- Cut open a peach so you have a round slice. Add this slice to the nut butter to form the snail shell.
- Now add a green grape to the nut butter for the head.
- Add two candy thread antennae and chocolate chip eyes.
The Fruit Butterfly
- Take another slice of celery and cut the bottom so it lays flat.
- Spread nut butter onto the celery and add a purple grape for the head.
- Cut two slices off a strawberry and set them on the nut butter to look like wings.
- You can really get creative here! Add sour straw threads for color and celery shreds for antennae!
